The siren call of creating the House Beautiful Home Collection as Director of Design and Head Designer of Home at May Department Stores International was too tempting for Clay to resist. Leading a team of designers, Clay dreamt up a home fashions line that reflected the style sensibility of the magazine and centered around the creation of 32 hand-mixed colors. These signature shades were the basis of every product in the line, including hundreds of home accessories for bed, bath, tabletop and holiday. Clay’s trend-scouting trips took him across 5 continents and inspiration for the pieces came from all corners of the globe including Africa, India, Thailand, China, Japan, France and Italy. The shop-in-shops debuted in 400 department stores on the same day, conceived and designed to truly make every house beautiful.
